bdtronic: Moving from TYPO3 to a modular website architecture.
For bdtronic, we're modernizing the technical foundation of its corporate website: migrating from TYPO3 to Prismic and Nuxt, with ongoing work on search using Typesense. Ruess Group provided the concept and design; Valanor is responsible for technical implementation.
Valanor is migrating bdtronic's website from TYPO3 to Prismic and Nuxt, with ongoing search development using Typesense. Ruess Group provided the design.
The challenge · Website modernization in manufacturing
bdtronic develops technologies for dispensing, impregnation, heat staking and plasma pretreatment. Its website needs to explain technically complex products, guide prospective customers to relevant information and support marketing and contact workflows.
The existing TYPO3 website was the starting point for a technical migration. The goal is a decoupled architecture in which content editing, the frontend and search can evolve as distinct components. Ruess Group supplied the website's concept and visual design. Valanor is responsible for the technical migration and development.
Technology choices serve the content workflow, technical maintainability and the ability to find relevant information. Each component has a defined role.
Prismic manages editorial content and makes it available through APIs. Content teams can work independently of frontend releases.
Built on Vue, Nuxt handles content presentation, routing and application logic. Its rendering options support the requirements of a complex industrial B2B website.
Typesense is part of the ongoing development of the search architecture. A dedicated index separates search and relevance logic from editorial content management.
The migration replaces the previous TYPO3 setup. Content models, existing URLs and search visibility signals need to be accounted for during the transition.
Valanor and Ruess Group responsibilities
Ruess Group provided the concept and design. Valanor took responsibility for development and the migration from TYPO3 to a Prismic and Nuxt architecture. Search development with Typesense is part of the ongoing technical work.
An earlier Ruess Group project description refers to Algolia as the search technology used at that stage. This case describes Typesense specifically in the current project, rather than presenting it as part of the earlier implementation.
Architecture and migration
Migrating a CMS is not simply a content transfer. Content models, website components, redirects and integrations must work together so that editors and visitors can use the website consistently after the transition.
The project illustrates our approach to Platform Engineering for industrial B2B websites. We cover the architectural decisions and practical considerations in more detail on our TYPO3 migration page.
Current status
The work is ongoing. This reference describes the technical direction and confirmed scope of work. It does not claim that the entire relaunch is complete or that improvements in rankings, page speed or lead generation have already been measured.
A final assessment will require confirmation of the production rollout, the search integration and any reliable performance data.
Website and CMS Migration
Whether you're planning a TYPO3 migration or a new decoupled web architecture, we can review the dependencies, define the migration scope and develop an approach that fits your technical requirements. Discuss your project with Aleksandar Basara.
